As a member of the board of the bank, Alexander Gafin, said in a live broadcast of the Baltkom radio, Rietumu Bank staff reductions had taken place over the past year.
According to him, this was due to the fact that in view of recent events the client base had decreased, and, secondly, part of the services became electronic, which was the main reason for necessity to part with employees.
Gafin also noted that, in many ways, customers became worried because of a reduction in the volume of non-resident services and checks of customers’ accounts. According to him, the bank has to fulfill the requirements of the supervising authority. Although no one had blocked and withdrawn accounts from clients, now it was necessary has to find out the origin of the funds.
We would like to remind that according to the previous Latvian news, Rietumu Bank informed some clients about the suspension of work with accounts opened by offshore companies.
