According to the Ministry of Defense of Latvia, at the end of the past year, an inventory was taken at the NAF’s warehouses, during which a shortage of inventory was revealed.

According to the data available to Latvian television, night-vision devices disappeared from the warehouse. It is also known that in connection with the incident from the service, several representatives of the NAF were suspended. The service check is over, however, the commander Leonid Kalnins has not yet made a decision on the measure of punishment. The Ministry of Defense does not comment on this specific information.

The ministry reported that due to the loss in the armed forces, two service checks were initiated and criminal proceedings initiated.

The director of the Department of Public Relations of the Ministry of Defense, Caspar Galkin, said that the checks had already yielded results. According to him, “the inventory was found and identified”. But the investigation continues.
