The Latvian airline airBaltic has signed an agreement on the purchase of new aircraft.

It is planned to purchase 60 new passenger airliners CS300 Bombardier.

The contract for the acquisition of 30 aircraft has already been concluded. Another 30 aircraft will be acquired by the airBaltic later.

According to Martin Gauss, the president of airBaltic, the total amount of the transaction will be 4.71 billion euros.

Procurement is carried out as part of the new business plan Destination 2025, which aims to develop and increase the number of routes in the Baltic region, linking Latvia, Estonia and Lithuania by air flights. The airplanes orders will be delivered in the 4th quarter of 2019. The first 30 aircraft will cost about $ 2.9 billion for the company.

It is known that airBaltic has already ordered 20 aircraft of model CS300, and now they successfully use 8 airliners. Another 12 airplanes are expected by the company by 2019.

According to the results of 2017 net profit of airBaltic was 4.6 million euros, and their turnover was accordingly – 437.7 million euros.

80% of shares of airBaltic belong to the Latvian state, and 20% of the company shares belong to the Danish businessman Lars Tusen (through the firm Aircraft Leasing 1)
