September 13-14 in Latvia the 14th informal summit of the Arraiolos Group will be held, which will be attended by the presidents of the 13 EU countries. The events of the summit will take place in the Riga Castle and the Rundale Palace.
The Arraiolos group includes Austria, Bulgaria, Greece, Croatia, Estonia, Italy, Latvia, Malta, Poland, Portugal, Slovenia, Finland, Hungary and Germany.
This is the traditional format of informal discussions of the presidents of parliamentary republics, whose duties do not include the functions of the executive power.
The first such summit was held in 2003 in the Portuguese city of Arraiolos on the initiative of the then President of Portugal, Jorge Sampaio.
