Inhabitants of Latvia have submitted 495 000 declarations on incomes to the service of state revenue. To date, 45 million euros have been returned as a surplus income tax from the population.
The head of the Tax Service Dace Peleka said that the plan for tax collection was 98% complete. That exceeded last year’s indicators by 10%.
The most successfully implemented plans were those regarding collection of value added tax, excise tax, as well as compulsory social insurance contributions.
Voluntary submission of income declarations started on March 1. Residents of Latvia have the right to submit a report to the SRS and receive the amount of the overpaid tax for justifiable expenses, as well as for the tax-free minimum or benefits unused for the taxation year. For more rapid consideration of these declarations SRS introduced an automatic check.
The overpaid amount of tax is transferred to the account specified by the resident within three months from the date of submission of the declaration.
