The declaration of the government of Krisjanis Karinsh (“New Unity”) suggests that there will be nothing in it of those electoral promises, because of which the voters voted for the parties. This opinion was expressed in an interview with LNT by the Prime Minister of the outgoing government, Maris Kuchinskis (“Union of Greens and Peasants”).

Kuchinskis believes that this is the right approach. If each party is allowed to “keep their unreal promises there,” the new coalition will collapse immediately. And now the contradictions can be postponed until later, for example, until the moment when the budget will be distributed.

The politician expressed the hope that the new government, while engaging in reforms, would not abandon the introduction of a new health insurance system. And the new Minister of Health Ilze Winkele (“For development / Pro!”) will be a sufficiently understanding person and will not “sweep up the problem under the carpet”.

According to Kuchinskis, all technical errors of the system can be fixed in a month, not five ones. It was not possible to launch the system at the beginning of the year because the goal was very ambitious, but the Ministry of Health did everything it could.
