The Commission for the Preservation of Plantations under the Riga Construction Board has forbidden the Ministry of Defense to cut down three trees that grow near its building on Skolas Stree. As the representative of the building society Edgar Butans explained, the reason indicated by the Ministry of Defense was insufficient, and during a public discussion about 130 people opposed this idea.
The ministry claims that these trees pose a threat to passers-by, as one of the trees began to dry and another one -was bent. However, the Construction Board came to a different conclusion – the inspection did not reveal any danger to people
