The local municipal enterprise dumped the waste directly into the green zone of the resort city … In a video recorded by eyewitnesses a few days ago, it was seen as a sewage machine parked at the roadside a few dozen meters from the protected territory of the Lielupe estuary, was emptying the tank right among the trees. In place of emergency, a police squad of self-government was immediately called. Guardians of the order ascertained that the car worked on the instructions of the municipal enterprise Jūrmalas ūdens. In the company itself they say that the water was drained after cleaning the storm system, and it had mainly sand.
“It’s not a domestic run-off, there is no fecal pollution,” said Guntis Klive, the company’s technical director, adding that the bad smell on the job site is “subjective perception”.
In the State Environmental Service, the event took an interest, and confirmed the need to establish owners of the car, after which the inspection will begin administrative records management.
