By the parliamentary working grappa recommendations, the Saeima of Latvia must independently decide the volume of publishing KGB documents.
The Working Group proposes amendments to the law that are consistent with the recommendations of the final report of the commission for scientific study of the KGB documents, which is expected on May 31.
The Working Group continues to believe that the KGB documents must be archived and published before December 31.
As reported, the Saeima extended the deadline for submission of proposals to the draft law providing for the transfer of KGB documents from the Bureau for the Protection of the Constitution to the Latvian National Archives by June 1, 2018.
