Prince Edward, Earl of Essex and his wife Countess Sophie will be on an official visit to Latvia on October 9-10, LETA was told in the presidential office.
On 9 October, the Count and Countess of Essex will meet in Riga Castle with the President of Latvia, Raymond Vejonis, and his wife, Iveta Vejone, and will take part in the ceremony of laying flowers to the Monument to Freedom. Then the count and countess will hand over books to the national bookshelf as a gift to the Latvian National Library.
The visit is dedicated to the centenary of the Latvian state.
Earl of Essex visited Latvia in 2016, when he presented the Duke of Edinburgh international award, which is given to young people who have achieved success in the framework of the international program “Award”, to its Latvian participants.
