Domestic waste disposal company Latvijas “zalais fonds” will hold an environmentally friendly campaign “Give tires a second life!” on October 13-21, during which residents of Latvia will be able to get rid of old tires at 10 sites for free, told Executive Director Solveiga Grisle .
Every year, 15 thousand tons of tires are imported into Latvia. After use, the largest part of them goes to service stations, which are engaged in tire fitting, and they store them at special sites until the tires are handed over for processing. However, it happens that residents keep unnecessary tires in garages or sheds, throw them into ditches or in the woods.
During the campaign, it will be possible to donate tires for free at the sites in Tukums, Jurmala, Kandava, Roja and Talsi Territories, in Olaine, Riga and Jelgava.
