Although diesel fuel is usually cheaper than gasoline, during the last month diesel fuel prices at Latvian gas stations caught up with and even surpassed the price of 95-brand gasoline. Companies associate this with the growing demand for diesel in winter.
According latvian newspapers diesel fuel in Latvia is the best-selling type of fuel, the demand for it grows every month. In the first nine months, 527 thousand tons of diesel fuel were sold in retail (not counting fuel for farmers), which is 5% more than a year earlier, according to the State Revenue Service.
As for the demand for gas, it falls every month. During the first three quarters of the current year, 126 thousand tons of gasoline (bio) were sold, which is 3% less than a year earlier.
