Internet merchants will be required to inform the State Revenue Service (SRS) about purchases not only of legal entities, but also of purchases of all customers. Such amendments to the law “On taxes” were adopted on Thursday, November 1, in the final reading, the press service of the Sejm reports.

The SRS will have to receive all information about electronic payments by residents of Latvia. In this way, it will be possible to track down illegal commercial activities and discover those who hide part of their income.

Provide information to the SRS will be required and postal services. This will help to track down those who illegally send goods to customers.

Earlier, the SRS identified more than 20 foreign Internet sites, the owners of which regularly supply goods and provide services to residents of Latvia. Probably, the residents of Latvia who do not want to register as taxpayers are hiding behind the foreign domains, and thus causing damage to the budget. New amendments give the state the opportunity to block such domains.
