Criminal prosecution for organizing a fictitious marriage is begun

The Internal Security Bureau (ISB) presented materials to the prosecutor’s office to initiate criminal prosecution for organizing a fictitious marriage of an official of the Department for Citizenship and Migration Affairs (DCMA).

As reported in the Bureau, in August last year, three people were detained, who, acting in the group, created the conditions for obtaining a residence permit for a foreigner in Latvia; they also arranging a fictitious marriage.

The group included a woman who performed the role of “wife”, another member of the group organized a fictitious marriage, and the official of the DCMA took the necessary steps for the foreigner to get a residence permit.

The fee for this service was several thousand euros, the BBB reports.
