Arvils Aseradens is planning to run for the position of chairman of the Democratic Party Unity. His main goal is to preserve the Party’s leading positions. Also the future candidate said that he was going to prevent the following two political figures – Neil Ushakov (party Consent) or Aivars Lembergs – to become the prime minister of Latvia.
According to Arvils Aseradens, the situation in Unity is quite complicated, but it is necessary to mobilize forces to overcome the crisis and make serious decisions. He also believes that the two main political forces claiming victory in the upcoming elections are becoming more visible. And the possible by these forces to get the prime minister’s position can dramatically affect the future of the country.
Aseradens said that the democratic wing must reach agreement on their priorities. In the end, a new political association can be created.
As for Unity’s future, an effective party council should be elected at the upcoming congress, conflicts must be terminated, the Party must realize its mistakes and agree on its future policy. “I hope that Unity will come together and clearly change its course,” he said.
The politician also noted that Edwards Smiltens is mistaken, believing that Solvita Aboltinya is the main problem of the Unity party. According to him, the old generation of politicians must leave and give way to the young.
