According to the latest report for the UN, women are more educated than men in Latvia, but their salaries are 17% less.

Latvian women are more serious about education and receive it more often than men, but prefer to choose those areas of activity that are not highly regarded in society. This is possibly the main reason for their low salaries compared to men.

Such a conclusion was made in the report prepared by the Interdepartmental Coordination Center for the United Nations on the implementation of the goals of sustainable development.

According to this report, 65.6% of the residents with higher education are women. The report also noted that 47% of women held leading positions in companies and departments. That is the highest indicator for Europe as a whole. However, the salary of women in Latvia is still 17% lower than that of Latvian men.
