A festival FIZMIX Eksperiments will take place in Riga on May 12
In Latvia the first festival devoted to physics will happen making children, youth and their parents acquainted with exact sciences in the fascinating form. The event will be held at the Riga Center for Architecture and Media H2O6.
For the visitors of the event, an extensive educational and entertainment program will be available all day on the following topics: how to build a robot or acquire your own submarine, what laws of physics operate when launching rockets, in sports, cooking and so on. Also a concert of Latvian singer Marcus Riva and Edavārdi will be held.
Visitors will be able to meet with the representatives of the FIZMIX training portal, the scientific Laboratory Laboratorium, the Zinoo curiosity center, the Riga Circus School, the School of Young Physicists of the University of Latvia, the Solar Cup of the Institute of Solid State Physics creating solar cars, ships and flying machines, “Baltic Center for 3D-printing technologies”, the enterprise Lielvārds working in the field of education and many other creative minds with a technical focus.
The competition for the erudition of FIZMIX Eksperiments has been organizing by concern Latvenergo for more than 20 years to awaken interest in physics in young people, to show them in an interesting form the practical application of the laws of physics, to give knowledge on electrical safety issues and to encourage the mastering of engineering and technical professions. In recent years, the number of participants in the competition has grown, and this year it is attended by more than 1,000 young people or every fourth Latvian school with 8 and 9 grade students.
